Central AC Inspections and Cold Weather

Brrrrrrr it has gotten quite cold since the new year. When we inspect a family dwelling in the colder months we are not able to inspect the central AC unit (if one is present) in terms of the difference in air temperature output. The reason for this is that if the temperature outside is below 60 degrees F the outside AC compressor cannot work properly and will burn out. The compressor needs warm air to work properly. We still look at the duct work, inspect the freon lines as well as look for rust on the units.
